Hello fellow CCFMA members,

A new fiscal year has started and along with it, new Board members for CCFMA. Please join me in congratulating Roger Wilson (Kings County), our new Vice President and BJ Cruz (San Bernardino County), our new Secretary. I believe these people will bring valuable knowledge and expertise to CCFMA, and compliment our Executive Officer Spence Grafft’s previous Board experience.

A hearty thank you to our outgoing Executive Officer, John Clements, whose experience and expertise are unquestionable. Thanks also to our dynamic past President (now Executive Officer) Spence Grafft. Kudos go to our Webmaster, BJ Cruz (doing double duty); without her hard work, we would not have this fantastic website! And last, but certainly not least, thanks to the outgoing Secretary, Roger Weaver, for his wisdom and experience. Roger, John, and Spence are perfect examples of what makes CCFMA so great. To have the vast knowledge of these veterans of fleet management at your disposal is priceless!

The fleet management business is constantly evolving, with more of our focus these days on all things “green”. I hope to publish more information regarding “green” topics on the CCFMA website in the coming year, in order to assist each other with developing policies, procedures, and good business practices. That is one of the reasons CCFMA exists. “Provide a forum for sharing knowledge/information among the CCFMA members” is what the by-laws state. One of the great things about government fleet management is that (unlike the private sector, as some of you know) we are not in competition with each other; therefore the free sharing of ideas and information helps all of our organizations…a true win – win!

I look forward to my time as President, and feel confident I will bring value to the organization. However, every member of CCFMA brings equal value to it; without all of you and your vast “brain trust”, CCFMA would be useless.

On another, more pressing topic; as we all know, there are wildfires burning all over Northern California. If San Bernardino County Fleet Management can be of any assistance to fellow CCFMA members “up north”, please let us know. I think all of the Southern CCFMA members would make the same pledge, and I believe they all would (or have) offered the same assistance.

We all have a demanding job to do, and CCFMA should be a help – not a hindrance. Utilize this resource as much as you can, and we will all benefit from it. See you at the meetings!

Ron
